apparently it all started with a group of CERN (Switzerland) scientists who began working on something which would revolutionize the future: the World Wide Web (WWW), or simply ‘the Web’. and in an office on the fourth floor (room 404), they placed the Internet’s central database: any request for a file was routed to that office but if a file couldn’t be found, usually because of a wrong file name the message ‘Room 404, file not found’ was returned to the person making the request.
