After setting up my own business in January 2015 I now have an opportunity to become a growth business and have made an epic decision to go from ‘me’ to ‘we’. Critically I need the right person to join me on the journey. Are you the person for this internship?

There is no standard job description for what I do so I am just going to tell it as it is – that way I am likely to attract the right person.

My business provides consultancy services that intersect between people, technology and communications. One day I can be working on an industry event, the next reviewing market data on teacher shortages, the next developing an Agri-Tech plan or maybe briefing a design agency on a new website, the next I’ll be speaking on employee engagement or doing a radio interview on connectivity. One thing is certain, my business is certainly not dull.

I want to be able to work with as many businesses as possible to help them on their journey to what they want to be – it is interesting, varied and fulfilling but quite frankly I have more work that I can shake a stick at! So if you’re not yet scared off by the scope of the mission, then keep reading.

The role will be fundamentally in communications and marketing, but will also feature heavily on social media as well as other areas such as research and business development – some of it will be challenging, some of it boring – but what I can guarantee is you will learn a lot.

You will cut your teeth on a range of areas that are hard to even explain but I am committed to helping to shape someone and get them started (or refreshed) on their career path. My vision is to have this position filled for 10 months (September 2016 to June 2017) and then have armed that individual to move to a new role.

It’s not going to be easy, and you will make mistakes (as do I) but it will be fast paced and fun. I have specific projects and events ready to go that I need someone to pick up and run with so personal accountability will be critical. I also need someone who can bring new approaches to the table especially around the variety of social media accounts I own. So you’ll support me on projects, run events, and personally progress a whole load. You’ll also be at the start of a new phase of what’s shaping up to be a pretty cool journey!

Plus points: I’m pretty flexible as long as the job gets done. You’ll be part of real innovation in both how we work and the industries we work with. I want to invest time and energy in the right candidate and I’ll want you to be awesome here and then elsewhere. You get to learn, learn, learn and experience.

Minus points: I am frantically busy so you may need to slow me down so you are clear what my expectations are. I am out with clients on projects a lot of the time so you will need to be a self-starter that can just get on with the job (that could also be a plus as I have a dodgy sense of humour too).

If you are a recruiter then please don’t send me any CV’s – I want someone a little bit different who is up for a real challenge.
